NYU president turned faculty apartments into a duplex for his son April 17, 2014
“Searching for an apartment in New York City can be challenging,” the prestigious New York University acknowledges on its website’s “Off Campus Living” page. On the contrary, the son of the school’s president apparently didn't have any problem. According to the New York Post, that cautionary understatement on the official NYU site hardly applied to Jed Sexton a Harvard-educated aspiring actor who in 2002 miraculously happened upon a newly renovated duplex embedded right between NYU’s facilities in the heart of Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. Sexton had no affiliation with the school, however, sans the sole fact that his father happened to be NYU’s incoming president. James Covert for the Post reported on Wednesday this week that property records seen by the newspaper and corroborated by statements from people briefed on the matter made it clear that Jed Sexton “for years enjoyed a spacious faculty apartment” at 240 Mercer St in the Village. The actor and his wife moved into a newly created duplex at the NYU-owned building, Covert reported, soon after the school offered them the residence in the spring of 2002. Only weeks earlier, however, a transition team working under incoming NYU President John Sexton told the school that there was a “severe housing shortage” on campus. “The housing system,” the March 8, 2002 report read, “is also deficient because it has adverse effects on both the pace of retirements and, because of inadequate budget and planning integration, the hiring of new faculty.” Nevertheless, for five years his son and daughter-in-law rented a completely renovated, two-story duplex in building that is normally reserved for law school faculty. According to the Post, NYU spokesman John Beckman declined to comment on whether either resident paid market price for the apartment during the half-a-decade they lived there. “We don’t discuss the specifics of residents’ rent, though I can absolutely say [Jed Sexton] was charged rent,” Beckman told the Post. Currently, one-bedroom apartments at the Mercer Street Residence run roughly $3,000, with two-story spaces undoubtedly costing much more. Jed Sexton and his wife, Danielle Decrette, left in 2007, according to the Post, to move into a $1 million house in Connecticut. NYU’s Beckman told the paper that the school no role in the financing of that home. John Sexton is expected to retire from his role as president of NYU in 2016, but may indeed close the chapter on that part of his life only after adding a new page or two courtesy of the latest scandal to surface. Previously, Sexton has come under fire for allowing tuition to increase by 68 percent in the decade after he first took helm of the school, and last year it was revealed that NYU students have more debt that those who attended any other university in the country. Meanwhile, Sexton’s annual salary last year was $1.5 million, according to the New York Times, and he’s been guaranteed retirement benefits of $800,000 a year once he officially retires. Washington drives the world to war By Paul Craig Roberts
15 April 2014
The CIA director was sent to Kiev to launch a military suppression of the Russian separatists in the eastern and southern portions of Ukraine, former Russian territories for the most part that were foolishly attached to the Ukraine in the early years of Soviet rule. Washington's plan to grab Ukraine overlooked that the Russian and Russian-speaking parts of Ukraine were not likely to go along with their insertion into the EU and NATO while submitting to the persecution of Russian speaking peoples. Washington has lost Crimea, from which Washington intended to eject Russia from its Black Sea naval base. Instead of admitting that its plan for grabbing Ukraine has gone amiss, Washington is unable to admit a mistake and, therefore, is pushing the crisis to more dangerous levels. If Ukraine dissolves into secession with the former Russian territories reverting to Russia, Washington will be embarrassed that the result of its coup in Kiev was to restore the Russian provinces of Ukraine to Russia. To avoid this embarrassment, Washington is pushing the crisis toward war. The CIA director instructed Washington's hand-picked stooge government in Kiev to apply to the United Nations for help in repelling 'terrorists' who with alleged Russian help are allegedly attacking Ukraine. In Washington's vocabulary, self-determination is a sign of Russian interference. As the UN is essentially a Washington-financed organization, Washington will get what it wants. The Russian government has already made it completely clear some weeks ago that the use of violence against protesters in eastern and southern Ukraine would compel the Russian government to send in the Russian army to protect Russians, just as Russia had to do in South Ossetia when Washington instructed its Georgian puppet ruler to attack Russian peacekeeping troops and Russian residents of South Ossetia. Washington knows that the Russian government cannot stand aside while one of Washington's puppet states attacks Russians. Yet, Washington is pushing the crisis to war. Danger for Russia is to rely on diplomacy, international organizations, international cooperation The danger for Russia is that the Russian government will rely on diplomacy, international organizations, international cooperation, and on the common sense and self-interest of German politicians and politicians in other of Washington's European puppet states. For Russia this could be a fatal mistake. There is no good will in Washington, only mendacity. Russian delay provides Washington with time to build up forces on Russia's borders and in the Black Sea and to demonize Russia with propaganda and whip up the US population into a war frenzy. The latter is already occurring. Kerry has made it clear to Lavrov that Washington is not listening to Russia. As Washington pays well, Washington's European puppets are also not listening to Russia. Money is more important to European politicians than humanity's survival. In my opinion, Washington does not want the Ukraine matters settled in a diplomatic and reasonable way. It might be the case that Russia's best move is immediately to occupy the Russian territories of Ukraine and re-absorb the territories into Russia from whence they came. This should be done before the US and its NATO puppets are prepared for war. It is more difficult for Washington to start a war when the objects of the war have already been lost. Russia will be demonized with endless propaganda from Washington whether or not Russia re-absorbs its traditional territories. Russia riven with Washington's Fifth columns If Russia allows these territories to be suppressed by Washington, the prestige and authority of the Russian government will collapse. Perhaps that is what Washington is counting on. If Putin's government stands aside while Russian Ukraine is suppressed, Putin's prestige will plummet, and Washington will finish off the Russian government by putting into action its many hundreds of Washington-financed NGOs that the Russian government has so foolishly tolerated. Russia is riven with Washington's Fifth columns. In my opinion, the Russian and Chinese governments have made serious strategic mistakes by remaining within the US dollar-based international payments system. The BRICS and any others with a brain should instantly desert the dollar system, which is a mechanism for US imperialism. Attack on Russia is mounting The countries of the BRICS should immediately create their own separate payments system and their own exclusive communications/Internet system. Russia and China have stupidly made these strategic mistakes, because reeling from communist failures and oppressions, they naively assumed that Washington was pure, that Washington was committed to its propagandistic self-description as the upholder of law, justice, mercy, and human rights. In fact, Washington, the 'exceptional, indispensable country,' is committed to its hegemony over the world. Russia, China, and Iran are in the way of Washington's hegemony and are targeted for attack. The attack on Russia is mounting. Article on english.pravda.ru: click here.

Bully who believes it threatens Instead of admitting their attempts at attacking Russia through destabilizing Ukraine has reached a situation where US control is minimizing, Obama and the United States Government and their military decide to send in more toys. One has to wonder when we are to be rid of this country that has done all that Empires do who find they had the power to colonize and control a large section of the world. 'Had the power' being the operative words. This is just the mind of a bully child. A bully who believes it still looks important strutting its big and powerful terror weapons. All that is happening is that the United States is making itself look extremely ridiculous!

‘US annexed the whole world through global spying' Assange March 24, 2014
US annexing the computer systems and communications technology that is used to run the entire modern world The media has been overwhelmed by talk of Crimea joining Russia, but all are ignoring the fact that the 'Five Eyes' intelligence alliance, principally the US, has annexed the whole world through their spying, said WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Speaking at the WHD.global conference on Wednesday, Assange who has been living under asylum in Ecuador's embassy in London since 2012 pointed out that there is a need for independent internet infrastructure for countries to maintain sovereignty to resist US control over the majority of communications. The annual conference is dedicated to global surveillance and privacy matters. Assange said:
“To a degree this is a matter of national sovereignty. The news is all flush with talk about how Russia has annexed the Crimea, but the reality is, the Five Eyes intelligence alliance, principally the United States, have annexed the whole world as a result of annexing the computer systems and communications technology that is used to run the modern world. So it’s a matter of national sovereignty. If there is not at least some national network that can be maintained in a moment of economic or political conflict with the United States, then there is simply too much leverage on nation states to be able to effectively defend the interests of their peoples.”Assange noted that the revelations leaked by Edward Snowden on NSA and GCHQ spying have caused a new wave of resistance against US control, shifting the geopolitical forces in Europe:
“These revelations about the United States and GCHQ annexing our new world of the internet has produced market forces to do something about it. But they’re also playing into, within Europe, a very interesting geopolitical phenomenon, which is Germany’s new leadership of Europe, and it demonstrating its new leadership of Europe. One of the ways to demonstrate its leadership is to demonstrate how someone else does not control you. Here we have an example of Angela Merkel and German society as a whole striving slowly to demonstrate some kind of independence in relation to the United States. And we should absolutely grasp that moment to try and get more independence for Europe from the dominant military-intelligence system in the world, the US-NATO alliance, which accounts for more than 75 percent of global military and intelligence expenditure.”Encryption Assange emphasized the importance of encryption and mandating new legislature for countries that seek more security for their sensitive information. He said that using bulk encryption private channels through countries like the US is a way to secure the safety of information.
“We can do that by mandating laws about encryption standards, telecommunications links must be encrypted to a certain standard, the links must be tested, the equipment must be tested, just like we have with the physical safes, we have standards.” Those standards need to be made proportional to the value of those telecommunications links or the amount of data being stored and the EU needs to push for that in relation to trade negotiations with other countries.”Totalitarian Dystopia The revelations of former NSA contractor and CIA employee Edward Snowden last year exposed the NSA’s practices of mass surveillance. The NSA and its British counterpart, Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), has been tapping the internet networks, emails, and phone calls of millions of ordinary citizens and political leaders around the world. In March, Assange warned that the NSA and GCHQ will soon have the ability to spy on the entire planet, as their capabilities double every 18 months. During his Skype appearance at the South by Southwest (SXSW) interactive technology festival in Austin, he criticized the shift of power from people “who are surveilled upon” to those who control the surveillance complex. He called the current system “totalitarian dystopia,” meaning that “surveillance is total, so that no one exists outside the state.” For this article and comments on RT: click here for article and comments

Tony Blair 'was fully aware' of CIA kidnap and torture program April 06, 2014
Former British PM Tony Blair was fully informed “every step of the way” about details of the CIA’s secret interrogation program, developed in the wake of the September 11 attacks, and “knew about everything” including torture, states a new report. Blair and then-foreign secretary Jack Straw were repeatedly briefed by MI6 and took an ‘active interest’ in the program, according to an anonymous security source who spoke to the Telegraph. The source said it was laughable to suggest any approval for UK security service cooperation with the CIA program was only approved by Straw:
“The politicians took a very active interest indeed. They wanted to know everything. The Americans passed over the legal opinions saying that this was now 'legal,’ and our politicians were aware of what was going on at the highest possible level. The politicians knew in detail about everything the torture and the rendition. They could have said [to M16] 'stop it, do not get involved’, but at no time did they.”This appears to contradict numerous previous statements made by UK officials. 54 countries cooperating in torture with US After 9/11, the CIA launched its rendition program, involving global kidnap, detention and torture operations. It emerged at the beginning of 2013 that at least 54 countries many European had acted in cooperation with the US and several of them were European. Even in 2006 it was being reported that it was:
“Highly unlikely that European governments, or at least their intelligence services, were unaware of the 'rendition' of more than a hundred persons affecting Europe.”Scotland Yard is continuing to investigate whether MI6 officers are to face prosecution over alleged complicity in renditions, including the cases of two Islamists from Libya who were sent back to the country in 2004 and were subjected to torture. The investigation began in January 2012 after documents were unearthed suggesting that former MI6 head of counter-terrorism, Sir Mark Allen, was complicit in the rendition of one of the suspects, Abdel Hakim Belhadj. Pursuing claims of torture damages UK-US relations Belhadj sued Straw and MI6 but his case was thrown out last December. While the High Court Judge noted that his claims were well founded, he also said that pursuing it could damage UK-US relations. Belhadj reiterated his commitment to seeking an apology this week. Since the Scotland Yard investigation began, MI6 has handed over top secret documents from the period to police. It remains unclear whether Straw has been subjected to questioning over his role in the alleged extraordinary rendition of Islamists. In January the same year, he told the Independent that:
“We [foreign secretaries] were opposed to unlawful rendition, opposed to torture or similar methods and not only did we not agree with it, we were not complicit in it, nor did we turn a blind eye to it. No foreign secretary can know all the details of what intelligence services are doing at any one time.”However, the Telegraph source added that:
“The understanding at SIS [Secret Intelligence Service] was it was acting in the 'national interest’ and with clear political approval.”Policy to accept claims obtained from torture In 2009, former ambassador to Uzbekistan and former Rector of the University of Dundee, Craig Murray, gave evidence to the Joint Committee on Human Rights that:
“When in early March 2003, at the meeting in London, I was told that it was now policy to accept intelligence that may have been obtained from torture I was very surprised. I was told directly that that had been agreed, that it had the authority of the secretary of state and had come from Jack Straw. I was told that he had discussed it at a meeting with Sir Richard Dearlove.”MI6 cooperation with CIA rendition However, he did state that while a CIA operative had been in attendance at an interrogation session and MI6 had received information via the CIA, there had “on occasion” been instructions not to use evidence obtained through torture. Dearlove was head of MI6 from 1999-2004 and made comments in 2012 declaring that MI6 cooperation with CIA rendition was a political decision. The Telegraph source stated.
“Tony Blair absolutely knew, Dearlove was briefing him all the time. He was meticulous about keeping the politicians informed. Whether there was anything in writing, well that is a different matter.”While the UK government has never issued apologies to victims or shouldered responsibility for its complicity in rendition and torture, there have been numerous “no fault” payouts to rendition victims. This week, members of the US Senate Intelligence Committee called for declassifying sections of a 6,300 page report on the CIA’s post-9/11 torture program. The demands came days after contents of the report were leaked, showing the CIA lied about their tactics’ efficacy. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the committee’s chairman, said in a statement on Thursday:
“The purpose of this review was to uncover the facts behind this secret program, and the results were shocking. The report exposes brutality that stands in stark contrast to our values as a nation. It chronicles a stain on our history that must never again be allowed to happen.”For article and comments on RT: click here

Venezuela: A Call for Peace By Nicolas Maduro
April 02, 2014
CARACAS Venezuela THE recent protests in Venezuela have made international headlines. Much of the foreign media coverage has distorted the reality of my country and the facts surrounding the events. Venezuelans are proud of our democracy. We have built a participatory democratic movement from the grass roots that has ensured that both power and resources are equitably distributed among our people. According to the United Nations, Venezuela has consistently reduced inequality: It now has the lowest income inequality in the region. Universal health care and education We have reduced poverty enormously to 25.4 percent in 2012, on the World Bank’s data, from 49 percent in 1998; in the same period, according to government statistics, extreme poverty diminished to 6 percent from 21 percent. We have created flagship universal health care and education programs, free to our citizens nationwide. We have achieved these feats in large part by using revenue from Venezuelan oil. While our social policies have improved citizens’ lives over all, the government has also confronted serious economic challenges in the past 16 months, including inflation and shortages of basic goods. We continue to find solutions through measures like our new market-based foreign exchange system, which is designed to reduce the black market exchange rate. And we are monitoring businesses to ensure they are not gouging consumers or hoarding products. Venezuela has also struggled with a high crime rate. We are addressing this by building a new national police force, strengthening community-police cooperation and revamping our prison system.
Overwhelming Mandate Since 1998, the movement founded by Hugo Chávez has won more than a dozen presidential, parliamentary and local elections through an electoral process that former American President Jimmy Carter has called “the best in the world.” Recently, the United Socialist Party received an overwhelming mandate in mayoral elections in December 2013, winning 255 out of 337 municipalities. Popular participation in politics in Venezuela has increased dramatically over the past decade. As a former union organizer, I believe profoundly in the right to association and in the civic duty to ensure that justice prevails by voicing legitimate concerns through peaceful assembly and protest. The claims that Venezuela has a deficient democracy and that current protests represent mainstream sentiment are belied by the facts. Wealthy trying to bring about usurpation The antigovernment protests are being carried out by people in the wealthier segments of society who seek to reverse the gains of the democratic process that have benefited the vast majority of the people. Antigovernment protesters have physically attacked and damaged health care clinics, burned down a university in Táchira State and thrown Molotov cocktails and rocks at buses. They have also targeted other public institutions by throwing rocks and torches at the offices of the Supreme Court, the public telephone company CANTV and the attorney general’s office. These violent actions have caused many millions of dollars’ worth of damage. This is why the protests have received no support in poor and working-class neighborhoods. The protesters have a single goal: the unconstitutional ouster of the democratically elected government. Antigovernment leaders made this clear when they started the campaign in January, vowing to create chaos in the streets. Those with legitimate criticisms of economic conditions or the crime rate are being exploited by protest leaders with a violent, antidemocratic agenda. In two months, a reported 36 people have been killed. The protesters are, we believe, directly responsible for about half of the fatalities.
Blockades Six members of the National Guard have been shot and killed; other citizens have been murdered while attempting to remove obstacles placed by protesters to block transit. A very small number of security forces personnel have also been accused of engaging in violence, as a result of which several people have died. These are highly regrettable events, and the Venezuelan government has responded by arresting those suspected. We have created a Human Rights Council to investigate all incidents related to these protests. Each victim deserves justice, and every perpetrator whether a supporter or an opponent of the government will be held accountable for his or her actions. In the United States, the protesters have been described as “peaceful,” while the Venezuelan government is said to be violently repressing them. US paying for attempted coup According to this narrative, the American government is siding with the people of Venezuela; in reality, it is on the side of the 1 percent who wish to drag our country back to when the 99 percent were shut out of political life and only the few including American companies benefited from Venezuela’s oil. Let’s not forget that some of those who supported ousting Venezuela’s democratically elected government in 2002 are leading the protests today. Those involved in the 2002 coup immediately disbanded the Supreme Court and the legislature, and scrapped the Constitution. Those who incite violence and attempt similar unconstitutional actions today must face the justice system. The American government supported the 2002 coup and recognized the coup government despite its anti-democratic behavior. Today, the Obama administration spends at least $5 million annually to support opposition movements in Venezuela.
A bill calling for an additional $15 million for these anti-government organizations is now in Congress. Congress is also deciding whether to impose sanctions on Venezuela. I hope that the American people, knowing the truth, will decide that Venezuela and its people do not deserve such punishment, and will call upon their representatives not to enact sanctions. Now is a time for dialogue and diplomacy. Within Venezuela, we have extended a hand to the opposition. And we have accepted the Union of South American Nations’ recommendations to engage in mediated talks with the opposition. My government has also reached out to President Obama, expressing our desire to again exchange ambassadors. We hope his administration will respond in kind. Venezuela needs peace and dialogue to move forward. We welcome anyone who sincerely wants to help us reach these goals. click here for links on InformationClearinghouse.info page

Army Admits Fort Hood Shooter Was on Psychiatric Drugs
Paul Joseph Watson & Alex Jones
April 3, 2014
Lt. Gen. Mark A. Milley acknowledged that Fort Hood gunman Ivan Lopez was taking psychiatric medication before the shooting, underscoring yet again the clear and consistent connection between mass shooting incidents and SSRI drugs. “Was he on any sort of medications….SSRI’s, anti-depressants, anything of that nature,” an Infowars reporter asked Milley, to which the General responded, “He was on medications that’s correct.” In a subsequent report, officials also admitted that Lopez had been prescribed Ambien, a sleeping pill associated with accidents and aggressive outbursts. 34-year-old Lopez, who shot dead three colleagues and injured 16 others before turning the gun on himself, returned from Iraq suffering from “mental problems,” according to officials. The obvious link between psychiatric drugs and violent outbursts is a common theme that crops up in almost every mass shooting incident, yet the media is routinely loathe to make the connection. After it emerged that Washington Navy Yard shooter Aaron Alexis “had been treated…. by the Veterans Administration for his mental problems,” the press showed little interest in discovering what drugs Alexis had been taking. The only medication currently offered by the VA for mental problems are SSRI drugs. Staff Sgt. Robert Bales was also taking anti-depressant drugs when he massacred 16 Afghan civilians in 2012. SSRI medication, which is known to cause violent outbursts, is routinely used to treat PTSD, which goes some way to explain why there are so many stories about both active duty and returning troops carrying out acts of inexplicable violence on a regular basis. Despite it being reported that prescription drugs were found in the apartment of ‘Batman’ shooter James Holmes days after the Aurora massacre, it took nine months to find out exactly what those drugs were. Like Columbine killer Eric Harris, Holmes had been taking Zoloft, another SSRI drug linked with violent outbursts. As the website SSRI Stories profusely documents, there are literally hundreds of examples of mass shootings, murders and other violent episodes that have been committed by individuals on psychiatric drugs over the past three decades. The number of cases is staggering, but the media has completely failed to generate a national conversation about the issue due to its obsession with exploiting mass shootings to demonize the second amendment. Pharmaceutical giants who produce drugs like Zoloft, Prozac and Paxil spend around $2.4 billion dollars a year on direct-to-consumer television advertising every year. By running negative stories about prescription drugs, networks risk losing tens of millions of dollars in ad revenue, which is undoubtedly one of the primary reasons why the connection is habitually downplayed or ignored entirely. click here for article on InfoWars.com
